Bamboo Garden is a Chinese restaurant serving a wide range of popular Chinese dishes in a modern setting.
Personally I think Jian and Laura work there or have reviewed the wrong restaurant. The buffet was poor, with only a small selection, what was out was hard and over done, as if it had been lying there for some time. I only attended with my partner, but had I dined with childen like Gavin T, then I would be well p@!!ed off! Wont be back
Visited this restaurant on the way home from a short holiday and decided that our last meal should be something a bit more special than at a motorway service station. We asked a local for directions to the nearest place to eat. He mentioned this restaurant, but said to avoid it, however, it was close by and we all fancied some Chineese cuisine. Oh how I wish I had taken that locals advice. The place was empty (it was a Saturday evening), however the member of staff seemed friendly and giuded us to a table where we elected to have the buffet. There was a coice of about 6 items, the majority of which were dried out and had obviously been lying out for some time. We quickly ate up and asked for our bill and to our horror were charged £60. We were a family of 2 adults, a 9 year old aznd a 7 year old. When I questioned the amout, I was told that they did not offer any childrens rates, both children were charged the same rate as adults. What a rip off, I would recomend to avoid this establishment. I spoke to the Manageress, who was completely unbudging, she stated that she had to charge full prices for childen to subsidise the number of 'large' adult who regularly come in and eat massive portions.
I ate here whilst at univeristy, we went in a big group - the service was great and there was live music - the Yangqin was being played at it really was wonderful. The food was also very nice indeed, alittle crampt but we were a large group and it was a saturday night.
Lovely place for lovers.
HAving been to this venue several times while at university, it always came across well in terms of its food, but lacking in terms of th venues ambiance and quality. OFten crammed in not only next to your friends and family but also next to people you do not know subracts from the general effect of the venue. It also does take aways, which are an advised option, as while the food is tasty and saucy, the venue is not overly comfortable. The all you can eat buffett however is very good value if you can et a lot.
