About Us

Brief description

CancerCare is a unique, local charity working with patients, their families and their carers throughout the cancer journey, and with those bereaved by cancer.

Recognising the value of every individual, CancerCare responds to each person�s needs for information and for emotional, psychological, spiritual, physical and social support by providing a range of therapies that encourages and supports each person as they adjust to their new situation.

CancerCare offers each individual a personal, professional and flexible service that is provided in a safe, relaxed and informal setting. This may be at one of our two main centres, Slynedales in Lancaster and the Lakes Centre in Kendal, or in a hospital or hospice setting.

CancerCare offers additional practical support by enabling access to legal and financial advice, and by transporting people to our own therapy centres and to St John�s Hospice using CancerCare�s teams of dedicated, voluntary drivers. This service is available for anyone who is not well enough, or not able for other reasons, to find alternative transport.

All CancerCare�s services are provided free of charge and are funded entirely from voluntary sources.
